I forget sometimes that there are actually products I love and use up and buy again. It seems like usually I love something for a second and then move on. But that isn’t true! There are a few HG products I have. What makes them special? For me they all have the same thing in common: they aren’t grand and flashy but I notice when I dont’ use them. That is good enough for me!
I have a deep long wrinkle under my left eye that is out of control. So the fact that there are some products that might not erase the wrinkle completely do keep it under control makes me pretty happy. Each morning and night I use Trish McEvoy’s Beauty Booster® Eye Serum before I apply my eye cream. It has a thin watery consistency that absorbs quickly into the skin. It doesn’t feel overly moisturizing on contact and dries to a slightly tacky almost non existent finish. This serum is purported to smooth lines, brighten darkness and reduces puffiness. I will admit it truly doesn’t do something dramatic and immediately noticeable. It is subtle. So subtle you tend to notice it more when you aren’t using it. Something is just .. off.. just not as good. It does seem to help my beastly wrinkle calm down and it provides a nice surface for whatever eye cream you choose to use. A little goes a long way so the bottle does last a very long time. Which is a good thing because it is crazy expensive. It does something though and I am on my third bottle so that to me helps justify its high price tag.
In the morning I follow it with Algenist’s Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Eye Cream This cream is the perfect blend of moisture but not greasy. It smoothes on relatively easy but stays put and doesn’t migrate. It doesn’t interfere with my concealer or makeup and keeps the eyes looking healthy. Again this product seems to last a lifetime. The price point isn’t as high on this and it does last forever.
At night I use Trish McEvoy’s Beauty Booster® Advanced Repair Retinol Eye Cream. I always was worried that using Retinol around my eyes would be drying and possibly irritating. Surprisingly this product has a very unique gel/oil/balm like texture that glides on. It goes on easily and absorbs quickly. It isn’t overtly moisturizing but yet my eyes look healthy and slightly glowy. I do notice a difference in the appearance of my wrinkles with use of this. Again when I stop using it I just notice something isn’t quite right. I don’t know why Trish’s skincare products aren’t talked about more. They really are quite superior. I think perhaps the price point of them is a bit prohibitive. I am not one for spending a lot of money just to spend it on skincare, but if you actually see results than I do feel it is worth it.
And lastly my last product that I can’t live without it First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair® Liquid Recovery it contains a blend of skin-saving ingredients, including red algae, honey proteins and oat extract, in a watery base. It truly is a liquid and not a serum at all. I pour a small puddle in my palm and then pat it all over my face and eyes. It is said that regular use deliver intense hydration deep into the skin, it will visibly reduce dry patches and redness as well as signs of stress and environmental damage, leaving the complexion looking smoother, less blotchy and more youthful. It truly feels like nothing at all once it is on. It doesn’t feel like it adds yet another layer of skincare and again the results are subtle. It just seems to make everything feel ok. Your skin isn’t as dry, it is more even and it does feel soothed and comforted. You won’t feel an immediate hydrating sensation but it does leave the skin feeling comfortable and ready for the next step. This product is the lowest priced of the bunch and the one you will go through the quickest. I have probably repurchased this 8 times over and will keep buying it.
I have come to realize that perhaps I am always looking for the instant gratification that never seems to come but it is likely the things that provide subtle changes that are really the best products of the bunch!
