My morning and night skin routine

I was struggling with my skin for a while. It had become dull, uneven and I was breaking out a lot. Also some nice juicy dark/age spots appeared. I have gone through untold amounts of products trying and hoping that something works. Currently I seem to have found a set of products that are actually working for me! .. for now… I thought I might share in hopes that it can help someone else too.

So good news I am finding things that work for me. Bad news is my morning and night routine is getting a little unruly. I figured out that there really isn’t one or two products that are going to address everything so sometimes more is better.. right?

I wash my face every morning either with my new love – Fresh Seaberry Cleansing Oil or good old Cetaphil. I find both are mild enough that my skin doesn’t feel stripped at all. I always follow with First Aid Beauty’s Liquid Repair serum and just pat it all over my face to soothe and boost hydration. It doesn’t feel like anything on at all. I then apply my Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster eye serum. Next up would be Algenist’s Genius Anti Aging Eye cream. It provides enough hydration but doesn’t cause my concealer to slide around my face in a greasy mess. I then follow all over with Vivier Skin’s C+E Serum, this is another line that I find isn’t talked about much. I love this so much more than the hyped serums from Skinceuticals (for one this one doesn’t smell like bacon). I find this serum helps brighten my skin and provide some antioxidant support to my sunscreen. I then apply a thin layer of bareMinerals Purely Nourishing Cream which I think actually might be discontinued(!) but luckily I have backups. I am curious if their newly launched Butter Drench cream will be a good alternative. I wonder because that is what this cream feels like going on. Butter.. but not acne inducing greasy butter. Nourishing, moisturizing and softening butter.  I then finish it off with sunscreen. Right now I am back in love with Radical Perfecting Screen SPF 30. This is a super light, feels like nothing on formula that does leave a subtle slightly pearlized finish on your skin. I personally would prefer a higher SPF but I am still on a quest to find the perfect daily high SPF moisturizer that doesn’t feel gross and isn’t super drying.

What I like about the combination above is my face get adequate hydration, anti-oxidants to help with my dark spots and sun protection.

I cleanse with Fresh, apply FABs Liquid repair serum and Beauty Booster eye serum as I do in the morning. Next I put a thin layer of Obagi Clear on my dark spots on my forehead and around my eyes. I am using the formula with hydroquinone in it. I haven’t noticed a massive difference yet but I am being patient. I then follow with Neutrogena’s Rapid Wrinkle Repair for the retinol. I find this formula does leave my skin with a nice glow and helps to keep acne at bay. I am ok using this nightly without too much drying out of my skin. I have yet to really find a retinol product that I find really has the “wow” factor to it. This one is by far the closest. I haven’t seen a massive reduction in wrinkles but I am not at the age where I have too many (yet!). I use Trish McEvoy’s Beauty Booster retinol eye cream and then a thicker layer of the bareMinerals cream. All set!
