Byredo has everything going for it as far as I am concerned.. well other than the price point. That could use some work. I love the clean modern packaging, unique perfumes and now they have purses?? Ugh, this does not bode well for me.
I accidently discovered Byredo 5 years ago when trying to look for a new perfume and stumbled across the counter. The first perfume I loved is still my main love – Gypsy Water. If I am being honest, the name Gypsy Water does not invoke the thought of a good smell.. but a good smell it is. It is light, slightly powdery and just .. cozy. That is the best way to describe it. It smells clean and cozy. Byredo describes it as the glamorization of the Romany lifestyle with a scent reminiscent of fresh soil, deep forests, and campfires. Hmm that doesn’t sound super appetizing either. Can’t say I smell soil but perhaps the forest and campfire. It does have great staying power as well. Since my discovery of it, I am have since worn Encens Chembur on and off (still not totally convinced this one works well for me) and incorporated the hair perfume too. The hair perfume again smells exactly like the perfume and has amazing staying power. Which is a good thing since for $80 bucks it better be good.
I am dying to smell their new Super Cedar which is said to evoke log cabins and scandanavian furniture. Yum! It sounds right up my alley. I am trying to resist for now. I am also trying to resist thinking seriously about a Byredo handbag. But like everything else, they leather goods are clean, simple and totally something I want.
If you like unique perfumes that not everyone necessarily will own check out Byredo for sure.
