What’s in my makeup bag and other things I have learned about myself

I have been in a crazy sorting and organizing mood lately and have completely purged and resorted all my makeup. I have learned a couple of things.. 1) I own wayyyyy too much blush.. like alot of blush 2) I am pretty sparse on everything else.. so woohoo I can shop more!

I have organized everything into logical drawers so I can see things easily. Everything used to be in cases and I couldn’t find anything. I am pretty excited about this. It did highlight the blush issue though.. oops. Also I dont seem that into eye or lip products. I am pretty low maintenance on that front.

I also cleaned out my makeup bag to only have my staples in there and I can rotate in stuff as I need to. Here are some of the things I can’t live without these days.

I love my new 3.1 Philip Lim makeup bag. It is large enough to hold everything and you can still find everything in it. It is also large enough it could double as a clutch. Love!

I have already gone on about my love for my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation so that one is in heavy rotation. I also love my Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish powder. #2 is a good match for me. It is completely unnoticeable but sets my makeup and cuts down on shine. I will never stop using my Cle de Peau concealer. I love that it provides great coverage but isn’t too dry, doesn’t crease and lasts all day. It is expensive but one stick lasts forever and ever. It is completely worth the investment.

I always start with Urban Decays Primer Potion in Minor Sin. It has a bit of shimmer in it so even if I dont use eyeshadow there is still something going on. It helps to stop the creasing of eyeshadow and prolongs my eyeliner by hours and hours (i am a total eye rubber). When I can be bothered to put eye shadow on I have usually go for something neutral. I love MAC’s Brule, Omega, Naked Lunch and Honesty. I ran out and made them in a palette when they lowered the price on the eyeshadow pans. Weeee. I always use gel eyeliner. It is a good compromise between the staying power and drama of liquid liner (which just looks too much on me) and a pencil eyeliner which fades off into the sunset in about an hour on me. I love Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel eyeliners in Chocolate Shimmer Ink and Patina Ink. The wear time on these are great and they still have a more natural look to them. These don’t dry out immediately either (MAC fluidline I am thinking of you!). For mascara I use Clinique High Impact mascara. It is on the more natural side of things. It is a good basic all round mascara. It comes in black/brown which is another thing I love. I do not understand why most mascaras don’t come in brown or black/brown. Why??? I don’t love black mascara on me. It just looks too stark. Clinique’s mascara doesn’t smudge that much (see comment above about being a chronic eye rubber) and it does not flake at all. Love it. My eyebrows aren’t great and they are a little patchy. I am in love with Hourglass’ Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil. It comes in a ton of shades and the one I love is Ash. This is another rant of mine, why some eyebrow pencils are way too warm and don’t have good cooler/ash options. This one is awesome and natural looking. You do not have to sharpen it which is also a plus.

As previously stated I own too many blushes so I try to use a different one everyday. I do have some mainstays though. I am in love with Hourglass Ambient Lighting blush in Diffused Heat. I was surprised that I loved the Ambient blushes as much as I did. I was so *meh* about the Lighting powders  so didn’t expect much from the blush. Diffused Heat is described as a vibrant poppy. When mixed together it is quite a bit more pinky and looks like a natural luminous flush on my cheeks. I am really loving the NARS Sexual Content Dual Intensity blush I reviewed here as well. I am not a huge lipstick person but I do love the Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm in Fuller Fig. It provides the right amount of colour and isn’t drying at all. The wear time is somewhere between a lipgloss and a lipstick.

Well those are the holy grails for me for now. I would love to know what yours are??
