So some newly launched products from Deciem called The Ordinary have been delivered and I am testing two of them right now. Here are some initial impressions after 1 week of use.
The very intriguing thing about The Ordinary line is it is a little more back to basics than some of the other lines from Deciem which gives me some high hopes and for sure it would be the insane price point.
The products I am testing are Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA and Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2%. These costs $8.90 and $6.50 respectively. That is super cheap. So I was a bit unsure what the formulas would be like at that price.
I bought both of these products mainly to try to help with hyperpigmentation and my uneven skin tone. So far the Alpha Arbutin has not really made much change but again it has only been a week and I wouldn’t expect much improvement (but a girl can hope). The formula is a thin liquid that isn’t super smooth and easy to spread on. It does leave my skin feeling really tight afterwards.
I then follow it up with the Lactic Acid formula to help smooth my skin and some further help with hyperpigmentation. It again isn’t an easy to spread formula and dries immediately which kind of compounds the problem. This too dries out my skin quite a bit so I immediately have to follow these products with a nice rich moisturizer (I have been using Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream). I do find I wake up with smoother skin that I think the Lactic Acid is responsible for. I am going to use them up before I have a final conclusion on the efficacy of skin lightening.
There are 11 products that have launched so far with more to come. Most are paired with Hyaluronic Acid for enhanced delivery of the active ingredients.
I will update as I continue to use these products (and surely I will be testing more!). At the price of these products they are a no brainer to at least give them a try.
